The Uriarte family's Simmental roots reach back to the late 1970s, but the program as it stands today began in 1996 with the purchase of a first Simmental female from Gateway Simmental — a cow that went on to a long show career, including Reserve Champion Female at the NILE Junior Simmental Show, and proved herself a consistently profitable dam year after year. Today Justin and Megan run a small but focused herd at Stevensville, Montana, built on quality over quantity — every female must earn her place by proving herself year after year. The program emphasizes maternal strength, structure and easy-keeping functionality, with the belief that long-term profitability is rooted in high-end females. Every animal is DNA-tested and sells with genomically enhanced EPDs, and the Uriartes use the RightMate system from Top Genomics to evaluate planned matings on a DNA level — eliminating wasted matings while breeding cattle that are both functional and attractive. Past highlights include Uriarte Fashion Maven 401M (now owned by Cow Power Simmentals) and Uriarte Lottie 303L (Kaelberer Ranch).
